Mangalore, Apr 26 (The Hindu): Sri Sathya Sai Baba has done work which the government could not accomplish, said N. Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, said.
He was speaking at a “Saarvajanik Shraddhanjali for Bhagawan Sathya Sai Baba” organised by the Kalkura Foundation and the Kannada Sahitya Parishat here on Monday. “Baba will stay in the hearts of people,” he said.
Mr. Bhat said apart from the works that Sri Sathya Sai Baba undertook, he brought an awareness of spirituality among millions of people.
Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman B. Madhava Bhandary said: “We pray that Sai Baba takes rebirth.”
K.C. Naik, president, Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (CREDAI) – Mangalore, and Managing Director, Mahabaleshwar Promoters and Builders, said crores of people had been praying for Sai Baba from the past one month.
“Sai Baba has said that he will come in another form. His prediction will come true,” he said.
Downtrodden
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, Dakshina Kannada Sahithya Parishat, said Sai Baba had worked for the poor and the downtrodden.
Groups of hildren sang devotional songs. Abhishek and Rahul Rao played on the flute, and Viswath Shetty played the tabla.
